"How do you draw readers into your story, and keep them engaged, through a compelling narrative voice?
How do you find the right voice for your story, whether it’s ‘your’ voice, that of a narrator, or that of a specific character? And how can you craft authentic sounding dialogue that accurately captures your characters’ voices?
In this hands-on workshop, Burruberongal novelist and playwright of the Darug Aboriginal Nation, Julie Janson, guides participants in how to craft narrative writing with a strong and distinctive voice (or voices). A master of many forms – including playwriting, historical fiction, crime fiction, and poetry – Julie gets participants experimenting with new techniques through a series of creative prompts.
No matter what genre you’re working in, whether you’re still finding your voice or developing a new style, this engaging workshop will help you take your skills to the next level. Participants should bring something to write with and pictures from magazines or photos that are important or meaningful to them."
